Just Breathe!

Life can bring about some nasty surprises as well as very pleasant ones. A pleasant one to me would be turning a corner and bumping into someone like Tom Cruise or Brad Pitt, well I can dream!   The not so nice ones can cause people to get a bout of anxiety.  Therefore, to have some knowledge on how to cope with this on the spur of the moment can help reduce anxiousness.   Anxiety can cause blood pressure to temporarily increase when the body goes into fight or flight mode which kicks starts the hormones adrenalin and cortisol to run riot.

You know the saying ‘take a deep breath,’ take a look at these two simple mild anxiety exercises that can help to reduce it.

Option 1 – Quick Breathing – referred to as Box Breathing

Inhale through the nose for 4 seconds and hold for 4 seconds

Exhale through the mouth to the count of 4 seconds

Keep repeating until you feel yourself becoming more clam.

Option 2  – Slow Breathing

Inhale through the nose for 4 seconds

Exhale through the mouth slowly for 6 to seconds

Repeat this for between 1-3 minutes.

These may seem very small or of little value when first viewed but they do work for mild to moderate anxiety, and they can be done anywhere, and they are free, I love free stuff!
